چکیده
Various foot complications can be easily avoided by continuously monitoring plantar (foot sole) pressure and temperature at home. Systems which simultaneously measure in real time are still scarce. In this work, the design, characterization, implementation of a Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBG) based smart insole capable measuring has been reported. The instrumented was tested verified during static gait exercises. paper also provides comparison developed optoelectronic-based solution with commercially available widely used measurement analysis system, lab-made electronic sensor-based for recording temperature. It shown that even though commercial acquisition system is very robust highly precise due to many sensing units on insole, much smaller number sensors acquire both reasonable precision while displaying maps, cycle plots real-time development cost more than eight times lower manufacturing solution. Our proposed lightweight, uncomplicated but robust, electronically safer system. While far from its optimized form, we expect our prototype will instigate other researchers domain further explore solutions monitoring.

Plantar Pressure Detection with Fiber Bragg Gratings Sensing System
In this paper, a novel fiber-optic sensing system based on fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) to measure foot plantar pressure is proposed. This study first explores the Pedar-X insole foot pressure types of the adult-size chart and then defines six measurement areas to effectively identify four foot types: neutral foot, cavus foot, supinated foot and flat foot. The plantar pressure signals are detect...
متن کاملPressure Effects on the Temperature Sensitivity of Fiber Bragg Gratings
A 3-dimensional physical model was developed to relate the wavelength shifts resulting from temperature changes of fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) to the thermal expansion coefficients, Young’s moduli of optical fibers, and thicknesses of coating polymers. Using this model the Bragg wavelength shifts were calculated and compared with the measured wavelength shifts of FBGs with various coating thick...

In this paper we review some of the dominant topics in fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs). The combination of theory and simulations shows that these structures can use in filters, nonlinear fiber optical applications, soliton propagations etc. We discussed the theory of FBGs, grating solitons, Bragg soliton generation in intrinsic media and birefringence effects in FBGs together with some numerical s...
متن کاملA portable insole plantar pressure measurement system.
To analyze plantar pressures during activities of daily living, one needs a fully portable system capable of measuring many steps over extended periods. This paper presents an inexpensive, reliable, portable plantar pressure acquisition system which we have developed. It allows the long-term recording (up to 2 hours) of pressure-time data from 14 pressure sensors within insoles. The sensor chos...
متن کاملSynthesis and characterization of fiber Bragg gratings
This thesis is mainly a study of theoretical issues in the field of fiber Bragg gratings. The synthesis problem of gratings is investigated in detail. This applies to synthesis based on desired, complex spectra in reflection as well as in transmission. In addition, methods for characterization of fiber gratings are proposed. For the synthesis problem of gratings, a genetic algorithm and a layer...
